Top Albums To Look Out For In 2022

Adekunle Gold:

 AG Baby, has hinted that his fourth studio album, “Catch Me If You Can,” will be released in February 2022.

With his immensely popular “Made in Lagos” album, Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid has had unparalleled success in 2020 and 2021. Ginger feat. Burna Boy, No stress, Mood feat. Buju, Anoti, and the revolutionary “Essence” feat. Tems are just a few of the album’s hit singles. 

Many music fans and reviewers consider Made in Lagos to be a classic, with the song Essence reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving a Grammy nomination. 

Wizkid has indicated that his second album, “More Love Less Ego,” will be released in November 2021, with Wande Coal, Bella Shmurda, Buju, and other international artists among the probable collaborators. Before March of 2022, the project is expected to be completed.

The album will be issued as part of a collaboration between Spaceship and Atlantic Records.

Rema: 

Divine Ikubor aka Rema is a major star of Mavins Records, a leading Nigerian record label. Despite not having a debut album, the gifted musician has managed to stay on top of his game. Rema, who broke into the mainstream of Nigerian music in 2018 with his Iron Man EP, which produced singles like “Corny” and “Dumebi,” has suggested that his 2022 album will be game-changing. Willow Smith, 6lack, Don Jazzy, DPrince, Ruger, and others are set to appear on the album, which is tentatively named “Rave & Roses.”

Fave: 

Fave gained a cult following after her Twitter fame and the release of hit singles like Dead Ass Love, Nobody But You, and Beautifully. She also landed two features on veteran rapper Olamide’s 2020 album “UY SCUTI,” “Want” and “Ponpon.” She has signed a deal with Mr Eazi’s label, Empawa, and her latest tune, “Baby Riddim,” is receiving a lot of attention and airplay. In 2022, she plans to release her debut album. 

Naira Marley: 

Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, a street music crooner and Marlian leader, has stated that his debut album will be released in 2021. The record could not be released at the time owing to management concerns. Mad Over You  crooner, has been absent from the Nigerian music scene for quite some time. “What Happens In Lagos,” the artist’s most recent significant single, was released in late 2020. In the year 2022, he will release his sophomore album, “SIGNS.” 

Chike: 

“Boo of the Booless” was Chike’s successful debut album. Chike won millions of Nigerian music fans’ hearts. His tune “Running To You,” which he co-wrote with Simi, is one of the year’s most popular tracks. “Brother’s Keeper,” Chike’s sophomore album, will be released in January 2022.
