On October 16, 2021, Yaw Geng, a sound engineer based in Kumasi, posted on his Facebook account what appeared to be a suicide note. While others encouraged him to keep going, one of his Facebook friends advised him to ‘go kill yourself.’
Yaw Geng stated in his post that he had given up on life after his plans failed to materialize. ‘We are only humans, and we are not meant to be here forever,’ he said, adding that he often wonders why he was “born into suffering.”
“Sometimes things don’t go as planned, and there’s nothing you can do except give up,” he wrote in his post. We are only humans, and we are not meant to stay on this planet indefinitely. Why are some of us born into suffering while others are born with a silver spoon in their mouth is a question I’ve asked myself a million times. “It ain’t fair in this world.”
Most of Yaw Geng’s friends who commented on the post expressed sympathy for him. “Don’t give up, bro; I understand your pain; keep pushing; one day, one day 3b3fa, s3 amfa k)p3 sika gari.” But remember me if the money comes because I dey pray for you,” one Emmanuel Amoah said.
“Life is PRECIOUS broh, Lets keep it safe and things will turn around,” said another Facebooker, Collins Appiah-Fei Colley Mahn, before another Facebooker, Papion Gh, added, “then kill ur self bros.”
Unfortunately, the artiste passed away a few days ago, according to a Facebook page called Wag Geng. “Wow, what a family!” Geng is no longer alive oooooooo. The comment read, “He hanged himself o0ow ow ow yaw waha me ooo ow.”
Since his death, all eyes have been on the Facebook comment encouraging him to commit suicide.
Stephen Owusu, a Facebook user, returned to Yaw Geng’s post and shared a screenshot of Papion Gh’s comment, saying, “Papion Gh, you can run but you can’t hide.” Do you realize how stupid you are? In fact, I’ll give the cops your message to help them with their investigation.”
Papion Gh has yet to respond to the screenshot, and no one from Yaw Geng’s family has spoken out about his death. Some Tweeps, however, have been mourning the musician turned sound engineer in the comments below.
